RSV describes the in-house Reserve carbon wheels with their distinct reinforcing around the nipples. The GX AXS stands for the SRAM groupset, consisting of a wireless GX AXS 12-speed drivetrain and robust aluminium cranks. The cryptic GX AXS RSV model name hints at the components of this build. One of the innovations includes a small cut-out in the frame, making it a lot easier to check the sag reading on the shock. … with the 145 mm travel at the rear, which gets managed by a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ shock. The 150 mm travel FOX 36 Performance Elite fork pairs well… That way, setting up the shock is a lot less fiddly – great! The small cut-out in the frame for the sag indicator on the RockShox shock is very useful. In addition, the shock also has a lockout lever for the climbs. Its adjustment options are rather limited: air pressure and rebound, that’s it. ![]() At the rear, you get a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ shock. Up front, you get a FOX 36 Performance Elite fork offering 150 mm travel without the gold Kashima coating, though with the same extensive adjustment options and performance as the more expensive Factory model. By now, the brand’s preferred combination of suspension components could almost be considered a tradition and they’re not about to break it here. ![]() Santa Cruz rely predominantly on SRAM and FOX components for the € 9,199 GX AXS RSV build, paired with a host of in-house solutions. The latter doesn’t stand for cross-country it’s just the designation used for their high-end carbon fibre. As usual, Santa Cruz also offer the Hightower in two different carbon grades: C and CC. Head angle in ‘Low’ is 64.5 with a seat tube angle of 76.7. Reach on the Medium in ‘Low’ is 452mm with a seat tube of 405mm. The Hightower MkIII is available in Small, Medium, Large, XLarge and XXLarge. Interestingly, the Shimano XT option is no longer available. Prices start at £5,399 for the Carbon C R, rising to £9,599 for the Carbon CC XO1 AXS Reserve. Six models will be available in the UK, four Carbon C and two Carbon CC offerings. The frame also comes with a sag window so you can check where the sag O-ring is on your shock. The Glovebox storage now comes with two frame bags for stowage of your spares etc. Leverage ratios have been changed to provide a more linear opening stroke with less anti-squat for better small bump sensitivity, while the end stroke sees the progressivity ramp up for improved end stroke support. For the third gen Hightower you also get a slacker head angle, down to 64.5 degrees on the ‘Low’ setting, while reach grows across the sizes (452mm on the Medium in ‘Low’) while stack increase to suit the cockpit most riders are running, and the BB height increases (338mm in ‘Low’). You still get the lower link driven VPP travel with a 150mm fork out front but that is about where the similarities end.įrame construction, as well as chainstays, are now size-specific, with a view to fine-tuning how each size rides. ![]() The latest Santa Cruz Hightower sees the second gen gone over with a fine-toothed comb to find anything and everything that could be improved upon.
